Red Production Company’s social audience was full of people who wanted to work in TV, and we were getting the same questions constantly: How do I become a writer? What does a cinematographer actually do? How do I break into the industry?

I’d recently led a £15,000 project to redesign the company website, so I was keen to drive traffic to it. I started Inside Red, a series of written Q&As with show writers like Harlan Coben, Sally Wainwright, and Danny Brocklehurst about their journeys and advice for aspiring writers. The interviews were popular, so I expanded the format to video and broadened the scope beyond writing to other roles like makeup artists and stunt coordinators.

Red didn’t have an Instagram presence yet, so I posted most Inside Red content there exclusively as an incentive to follow. I started the account from zero and grew it to over 10,000 followers by the time I left the company.
