I'm Tom Elden

And I'm still figuring out a subtitle.

This is a picture of me from nearly 15 years ago. I don't look much like this anymore, but I just can't bring myself to stop using it. Anyway, here are some other things I am:

Transplant

I grew up in Surrey, but in 2010 I moved to study Drama & Screen Studies at the University of Manchester. And after I graduated, I stuck around! I now live here with my wife Steph and our two cats, Sonny and Jasper.

Shall we say we're embedding integrated partnership working strategies?
I think we should just say we're "working together".
If you say so 🙄

Communicator

I work in the Communications team at Manchester City CouncilAll views my own. and lead campaigns for Elections, Work & Skills, Community Safety, and more. It can be hectic, but I love it more days than I don’t. My role involves a wide mix of work like project management, campaign planning, video content creation, and a lot of writing.

Writer

It’s just as well, then, that writing is how I feel most comfortable expressing myself. I start every day by journalling, I spend a good 70% of my working time writing emails and reports and marketing copy, and every now and then I try to find time to write for pleasure. You can check out some of my favourite pieces on my Projects page.

Tinkerer

From essentially the first time I used a computer, I’ve held a passion for just generally dicking around with them. This very website itself is a product of my vibe codingEssentially, using AI tools to write code for you with varying degrees of success hobby, which I've been using to hack together my own software projects. I’m going to be documenting some of that process here.
